Math
Eagle Ridge uses the Saxon Math program. Saxon provides the following:
-Daily Fact Practice
-Spirals
-New concepts each day
-Continuous review of previous content
-Frequent assessments
-Hands-on approach
As students begin grade two, they are expected to know their addition (0-18) and subtraction facts (through 10). The first and second quarters will be spent on increasing basic math fact fluency. At the beginning of the second semester, students should be able to successfully complete 100 problems of each (addition and subtraction) in 5 minutes or less. The second half of the year the focus changes to multiplication (0-12). In 3rd grade students will be expected to correctly complete fluency assessments of 100 multiplication problems in 5 minutes or less.
